I have noticed that since Divshare updated I have a lot of dead links. I will concentrate on fixing this as a background task. However, my priority will be new mixes. If anyone has any requests for re-up please send... MATTHEW - I have located my NO MORE NINES mix and will up shortly (1 week late.) I has jobs, cats and baby coming.
US was supposed to be Michael Landon's last series. Only a pilot aired and our Angel died a month later. The plot involved an innocent man who served 18 years on a murder charge before being released. He then reunites with his son, whom he never knew. I guess the series was going to basically be the same as Highway to Heaven, except with an awkward father-son dynamic.
It made me cry, nonetheless. This mix has nothing to do with any of this. It does, however, start with Gummybear remixing Jacka in ways I never would have thought (slowing it up, then using STRETCH to speed it back up, but preserve tempo.)
Really like where these kids are going with this Witch House thing. What I am most intrigued by is the fact that, like a lot of my mixes, they seem to dwell on inspirations that get their 'sound' from scarcity and the limitations of source material. nTh generation tape dubs of Cosmic Disco mixes and Screw tapes... vinyl rips of dub... rare synth tapes from Europe... VHS copies of Giallo horror. Something about the crackles and hissese and hums.
I am thankful that my new mixes allow me to dwell in some of this lo fi goodness. I am thankful that a handful of kids are dead set on making my upbringing their 'new' movement.
Haven't done a disco mix in a while. Guess this is pretty close. Minimal Synth. Krautrock. Pop electronics. All fed through a slightly more subtle filter.
I've been Witch House... I've been LoFi and dream pop and all that shit. It is nice to see like minded lunatics having fun with music though.
New series, all mixes related to one of my heroes... Mr. Michael fucking Landon. Got that down home Pa Ingalls shit for you. This one reeks of a 5th generation cassette smuggled out of cosmic disco... that is if Lil B and Caribou could possibly be on the playlist.
The last of the transition trilogy. Still bleachy and murky and tapey. The next mix series may go a little more organic - but still maintain the bass buzz crickets high hats vibe.
