IT FEELS GOOD TO BE OUT OF THE RAIN

I really laboured over this mix. Serious tweak status. Hope it paid off. Starts off with a Rist remix that sounds like Fela meets Sonny Sharrock and then slams into Rainbow Arabia (again.) Love this tune, takes me back to Bow Wow Wow and Hayzee Fantazee. I kind of really went for a Cosmic feel... as I've been listening to a lot of Daniele Baldelli. I tried to use some of his phasing techniques, but in a modern fashion. Listen to his shit... he was eons ahead of his time.

This is worth it alone for the dub of Africa... with only subtle touches from me. For closers, that Todd Terje re-edit of America. There's a reason it's popular, it's the shiznit!

EVERYTHING RISES

Rist - Morning (Phased and Konfuzed)
Rainbow Arabia - Holiday in Congo
Monotony - Danger Song
Optimus Crime - Danger Song
Sferro - Republique
Y.A.C.H.T. - So Post Em All
Plastic Ono Band - Hirake
Key of Dreams - Africa (Dub Mix)
America - Horse With No Name (Todd Terje Edit)

NOTHING TO GET HUNG ABOUT

Last of the Tarantino cycle. Tell him to make more movies... you'll get more mixes. Two Sir Paul tracks from the phenomenal McCartney 2 LP. Always amazing to hear in retrospect how innovative dude was. This was his eccentric synth lp. I did nothing to CHECK MY MACHINE... although I did do the dubs on WATERFALLS.

Like said waterfall... methinks this mix flows pretty nicely. Where in the hell has the hip hop gone.... mabe only Aceyalone knows?!?!?!

WHEN I SAY I'M COMING IN THE HOUSE...

I just mean new mix tomorrow.

BTW - I'll try to get a tracklist of that mix up. I always delete my session file after posting. And did so before I tracked it - so I have to listen and track by hand.

New mix is something different. Putting the finishing touches on now.

SOME OF THEM WANT TO BE ABUSED

One of my favorite tracks ever on here from APB. Also some really nice psych, dubstep inspired electronic music (and I'm not a big dubstep fan,) latin jazz, post rock and other things that make you say hmmmm....

R.I.P. Carradine.

Tracklist later.

STILL RIDING THE BUS

Latest mix. This one took some time. Like i said... putting some of my favorite tracks and biggest influences in this series. This time, the prizes go to Niney the Observer and the Psychedelic Furs. These tracks are in my blood. A part of me.

I'm digging the Slits like grime take of Ebony Bones and that Pseudo Cure shit that Joakim spins sinister.

LET'S TALK ABOUT THE MOVIES

It's got both Arthur Russell and Yoko Ono on it. Spoon doing their best "Heard her Call My Name" and some other dudes sounding like Syd Barrett. And it's something like a suicide note.

Not mine, of course.

IN MEMORY

New mix. Yes, there's a Jackson 5 song on it... and a monster at that. Not some sort of tribute... in fact, the death of Michael makes me mourn Arthur Russell more. A quick listen to his work really illustrates that his influence on music is so vast. "In the Light of a Miracle' does, in 13 minutes, what an entire mix by Hardkiss, Sasha or any other DJ does. It's people like Russell and Tubby who changed the music world. Let us mourn them, as well.

True, Michael exposed the race barrier and broke it... but do people even now realize that the entire modern music world owes everything to a few young men in Jamaica in the late 60's. Does your average hip hop or electrnica fan realize that they listen to music that is inherently homosexual????

Just a few questions.

Onto the dub and funk.
