THE ART OF FALLING APART

Been sitting on this one for a few days. Took a little time to program it correctly... at first it really was the mess of the emotions in my head during this time. By listening and reworking the sequencing... it actually helped me rework some of the sequencing in personal life. Pretty cool neurotarot style, huh?

Anyway - it starts off sad love and pet sounds and tapers into something a little more dreamy and hopeful before slumbering to the ground in edgy mock-Smiths despair.

BLUE CAR SPEAKER

I spent three days perfecting (hopefully) this mix. I used some old Scratch techniques and drained it of a lot of bottom... giving it an old car speaker sound. No presets... just hard handiwork.

Why? The confusion and sadness inside of me is leaving me hollow. I have always been impressed by DJ Screw's ability to convey sadness. Hopefully I, too, can convey feeling within the scope of a mix. This mix is unanswered questions, mixed messages and static. Suspicion and despair, tempered with happy bells and twinkly hi-hats.

Another blurry escape from the chaos of reality. This one seems a tad optimistic. Like Arthur Russell, the first time he got of the bus in Manhattan... Iowa corn seeds still stuck in the cuffs of his jeans. He was 24 before he hit Manhattan. Schooled in buddhism and turned out by Allen G. He'd be dead before 45.

The body of work in between, though, is incredible. Like so many others, it would be years before the world realized he didn't just leave a mark. He left a stain.
